We had a chance this week to follow up with one of our first Stem Cell Aesthetic patients, Sandy; who has been undergoing treatments as part of our AminoCyte Glo service. We took the time to sit down for a (socially distant) conversation with Sandy about her treatments – check it out below.
PA: Thanks for taking the time to talk with us today, Sandy!
SANDY: Thanks for Checking in! I’m excited to chat about this treatment, it certainly wasn’t anything like I expected it to be…in a good way!
PA: We’re excited to hear all about it. To get us started, how about we talk a little about the treatment you had and what you were hoping to get out of it?
SANDY: Of course! The treatment was called Aminocyte Glo, I believe, the one with the tiny needles. I didn’t have a lot of expectations before the treatment, to be honest. I’d learned about it during a training session we were doing on the actual procedure (I’m a technician at PA Green Wellness), and it sounded kind of fantastic. Everyone urged me to try it – so I did.
PA: That’s unexpected! Did you have any areas of concern that you were hoping the procedure would address, or were you just kind of excited to see what it could do in general?
SANDY: Um, I suppose I didn’t have any real expectation in mind. I think I was a pretty youthful looking 64 before the treatment so I wasn’t looking to have any cosmetic procedures done. I’m a fairly natural and organic type of girl, so it’s typically just topical skincare maintenance for me…but even though I didn’t have any expectations, the reduction in wrinkles was pretty incredible.
PA: So you have experienced some results? That’s amazing! We’re excited to learn more about that, but first, can we talk a bit about the procedure itself? Was there a lot of discomfort?
SANDY: I wouldn’t say that it was painful, really. Before we got started, they treated my face with a topical numbing cream and let it sit for a few minutes, so that helped. But overall the micro-needling kind of felt a little like getting a tattoo. Kind of like scratching. So it was really more annoying than anything…even with a little bit of discomfort, I was super excited to get my next treatment – so it couldn’t have been that bad!
PA: I bet you were glad it didn’t hurt, micro-needling sounds a little…frightening, honestly. So now that we know what it feels like, can you tell us a little about what actually happened during the treatments?
SANDY: Yeah, it does sound a little frightening and to be honest I was a little afraid before the whole process began, but once I felt the first zap of the tool, I wasn’t worried anymore. As far as the process goes, the first treatment, like I said, they applied a numbing cream and then used the micro-needling tool to make tiny little micro-punctures all over my face. Once that part was done, the nurse wiped the Aminocyte solution all over my face and then ran over my entire face with the micro-needling tool again. The whole process was pretty quick and easy. When we were done, I was able to just get up and go on about my day.
PA: Amazing, but what about the recovery? Any redness? Pain?
SANDY: No, not really. There was some redness for the first few days after the procedure, but nothing too crazy. It was a little bit like a sunburn, if anything, for a couple of days and peeled a bit, but it was really nothing to worry about. After a few days, my face was back to normal, it didn’t interrupt any of my daily activities or anything like that.
PA: So you said after about 3 weeks you saw some changes, can you tell us a bit about that?
SANDY: Well, I had my first treatment in January and I guess about 5-7 days later, the redness and flaking had stopped. I could kind of see my face looking fresher, but by about the middle of February, I could see some of the fine lines in my face starting to vanish and began to notice a pretty drastic improvement overall. I hadn’t even ever thought of myself as a person with a lot of lines and wrinkles until I saw them vanish. It really looks amazing and it looks better with each treatment. I can’t really explain how amazing it was to see my face change.
PA: That’s amazing, we can certainly see the changes in the before and after photos. Your progress is absolutely amazing! Is there anything else you’d say to someone considering the treatment?
SANDY: I’d say treat yourself! This was an amazing experience. I still have one more treatment to go, and I’m really honestly looking forward to it. It’s well worth every penny!
PA: Thanks, Sandy! It’s been a pleasure talking to you today, hopefully, you’ll keep us posted in another few months after you’ve had your last treatment and had a chance to see what kind of changes happen from that.
SANDY: Of course! Thanks for talking with me about my treatment. It’s been a surprisingly surprising experience.
